ROMA PASS AND VATICAN CARD
Roma Pass, sponsored by Comune di Roma, the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, in conjunction with ATAC, is a tourist card that offers discounts and services to tourists or to a curious public that wants to enjoy the beauties of the city.
The Pass costs 25 € and offers completely free entry to the first two museums or archaeological sites and a reduced price for all other museums or archaeological sites you will be visited later. The Vatican Museums are not included with this card because they are in a foreign country.
The Roma Pass also provides free access to public transports. With the Roma Pass you can use buses, the two metro lines A and B, trams, for free as well as the train Rome-Lido, Rome-Viterbo (to Sacramento), the Rome-Giardinetti, and the Trenitalia train, but only up to the station Fiera di Roma. Roma Pass is not included in the transportation to and from Fiumicino and Ciampino airports.
To enter the Coliseum, with the Roma Pass you can enter going directly to the dedicated turnstile for Roma Pass holders for a direct access to the monument skipping the crazy line at the tickets office. In the case that someone with you don’t have the Roma Pass, or this is your third visit and you have to buy your reduced ticket for the Colosseum, you need to make a line at the counter dedicated to the reservation to collect your tickets.
The Roma Pass kit can be purchased online by following simple steps on website www.romapass.it. For safety reasons the maximum number of Roma Pass to be purchased on line is 4. The withdrawal is possible from the day after the purchase. It is also possible to buy the Roma Pass trough the Call Centre +39 060608 where, however, the purchase is only possible if you have an e-mail address and credit card Visa or Mastercard. Trough the call centre and the website you are going to communicate your personal data, those of your credit card and any security passwords provided by the circuit of the credit card (security code , Verified by Visa and other). The data bank will be protected by the certified platform from the ticketing system used.
It is also possible to purchase the Roma Pass in all museums and sites of the circuit, and at A Metro Station of Anagnina, Battistini, Cornelia, Lepanto, Ottaviano, Spagna and at the B Metro Stations of Laurentina, Eur Fermi, Ponte Mammolo.
In addition to those sites, you can also buy the pass at all Tourist Information Points in the city:

Inside the Roma Pass kit, you will find a map with Tourist Information Points, Underground stations, museums and sites with addresses, phone numbers, buses and Metro timing, the travel guide for museums, sites of interest, a program of events and tourist services that are eligible for discounts, and an access card to inform you about events and useful services.
The Roma Pass must be completed on the back with name and date of activation, which results from the first access to museums or the first validation on public transport. The card is valid for three days until the third day at 24.00, including the activation day.
The first 2 museums or sites you decide to visit are completely free, while the 3rd site and the followers are going to be discounted.
The card must be shown upon request of personal control, together with a valid ID.
The Roma Pass also allows, if necessary, to take advantage of home visits, diagnostic specialist, and ambulances in special rates. To activate this medical assistance service, you should call the Travel Health MET multilingual Call Center, at the 06-43236291, working 24 hours a day, where you can also request information on public and private Health facilities available in town, get news on locations, addresses, phone numbers and how to access public health facilities, the nearest or most suitable for solving the health problem you have.
ROME & MORE PASS
Rome & More Pass is a RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) card type. Unlike the Roma Pass, it can not be put in the machines to open the turnstiles to enter the subway, but you have to put it on the detector on the top of the machine, so that a green signal indicates that the use was recorded.
The Rome & More Pass includes also the possibility to visit not only the Museums of Rome but also some Museum or sites in the Roman Region such as Villa Adriana, Villa d'Este, the archaeological sites of Cerveteri and Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia and also includes public transportation in the province of Rome (zone A and B). The kit consists of two cards, one for public transport and the other for museums and archaeological sites. The card for public transportations is a BTR (regional tourist ticket)and it is valid for three days for unlimited trips. You can use buses and trolleybuses, trams, CO.TRAL spa buses, and the railways trains Rome - Lido Rome - Viterbo, Rome – Giardinetti, the A and B lines of the metro of Rome, ant the Trenitalia but only up to Fiera di Roma Station. It is therefore not valid for and from the airport of Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci or Ciampino. The activation process is the same for both cards.
Charter "Christian Rome 48 h" ticket valid 48 hours after the first validation. Costs € 18.00 for adults and is free of charge from 0 to 10 years.
Charter "Rome and the Vatican 1day" This card allows its use on the day to take advantage of the open yellow bus for the tour of Christian Rome, and also for spare public citizens. Costs € 20.00 for adults and is free of charge from 0 to 10 years.
Charter "Rome and the Vatican 3 days": This card allows its use on the day to take advantage of the open yellow bus for the tour of Christian Rome, and also for spare public citizens. Costs € 25.00 for adults and is free of charge from 0 to 10 years.
