Reservation des Musées du Vatican sans faire la file

How to book...

Rome is beautiful, so beautiful that, I swear, nothing else seems to me to compare with it. In short, to tell you my thinking on Rome, it is not only the most beautiful city in the world, but it also is without a possibility of comparison with any other.

The reservation allows you to enter the Vatican Museums without standing in the line that in the high season is for hours. The line is due to the fact that at the entrance of the Vatican there are some metal detector controls. Such controls are essential to prevent the ill-intentioned to enter in the Vatican with objects that can be misused on the works of art or on the safety of the Holy Father. This control is like the one at the airport, but is not so meticulous. The machines are calibrated to detect metal objects like knives and box cutters. Moreover you can not enter the Vatican with big umbrellas, backpacks or large bags. They have to be put in the closet and collected at the end of the visit.

The online booking service offered by the Vatican Museums official website allows you to book the tickets for the visit for a day and for a determined time. In this way you don’t have to wait and have more time for the visit. The booked tickets entitles you to visit the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel only for the day of issue: the date can be changed up to one hour before the visit, while the number of people can never be changed. You can book maximum 10 tickets and not earlier than 60 days before the date. Tickets purchased but not used can not be refunded.

The ticket costs 15,00 € plus 4 € of reservation fee, a reduced ticket is available for children between 6 and 18 years, it costs 8 € plus 4 € of reservation fee. Children under 6 years old are entitled to enter without the ticket. You can also purchase a reduced ticket for students under 26 years old presenting, on the day of the visit, an International Student Card. The purchase of an online ticket without the requirements will not be refunded.

In order to book online, you need to have a Credit Card like a Master Card, Visa, American Express, JCB, or Diners Club, and the names of all the participants and you can use the Vatican Museums official website. Once the payment is done, an e-mail will be sent to the address provided at time of booking with the confirmation number and the voucher with a bar code. I recommend you to print the voucher and bring it with: you have to show it at the main entrance to the guardian just before taking the preferred lane. If you lose or forget the voucher, you can display it through the screen of the modern tools like iphone, ipad or similar. The reservation office will however be able to go back to the reservation.

The museums are closed all Sundays except the last Sunday of each month when they are open and free. For that occasion is not possible to make reservations.
The Vatican museums observe the festivities of the Vatican State calendar. During those days the museums are closed in addition to the normal closing days. These the dates are:
January the 1st and 6, February the11th, March the 19, Easter and Easter Monday, May the 1st, June the 29th, August the 14th and the 15th, November the 1st, December the 8th, December the 25th and the 26th. Early closings are planned for December the 24th and 31st.
To enter the Vatican Museums is also essential to wear a decent clothing. You must have your shoulders, belly and knees covered. Especially in hot season, don’t forget a scarf to wear when is requested.
According to their needs, the Vatican can close the access to one or more rooms of the Museums even during normal opening hours and is not obliged to inform visitors about these changes before the entrance. Who writers you can not be responsible for changes at the program brought because of this. In this regard, you have to be informed that in the afternoon from 16:30 until the scheduled closing, it is prohibited to explain inside St. Peter’s Basilica because this is the time for the holy Messes. So to guides have to explain outside the Basilica where the visitors can enter individually.
